August 2010 Newsletter – The basics on bags
This week on ‘Talk of the Town’ you will see a few of the basics you must have in your wardrobe. One of those basics is a great bag. It’s the one piece you carry daily and you should consider it a great investment. Your bag should help to define you and your personality.
Some days it is hard to look ‘just right,’ and a bag can help pull you out of a fashion disaster day. If you are in the professional world, you might want to try a bag that is sturdy and doesn’t collapse on a desk. It looks pulled together, professional and chic – even with a professional bag, don’t be afraid to play with color or material…Try a patent leather for some extra sass, or a brighter color – but remember, make sure your ‘style’ is professional especially when you play with other factors.
Your bag is your statement piece and shouldn’t be nondescript. Have some fun, but invest in something that is seasonless and fits the most needs. A cute gold clutch is great but not on a daily basis, so don’t spend your entire budget on it. Choose wisely when picking a bag as it not only represents who you are, but carries some of your most important things!
Here are a few of my favorite basic bags…choose one that represents your personality, your lifestyle and YOUR FASHION!
When looking for a bag think about colors that will go with most things…the right shade of python will get you through almost any occasion as you can dress it up or down – and with the multiple neutral shades of taupe, gray and cream you are set! (don’t be afraid of the pattern – it is an accent piece, so if you are wearing a bold pattern with this, it won’t get in the way or detract from it)
Black is always a safe bet – but try choosing one that has a mixed material and maybe a few accents here and there…tassels and stones are always fun but don’t go overboard with accents either.
A neutral taupe shade is a safe bet since you can go from chocolate to navy to white and black. It is as safe bet as is gray, but neither are boring…most people think gray is only ok for the fall/winter seasons but the right shade can get you through the year! Taupe or gray is an unexpected fresh twist especially if the material isn’t a plain leather.
