Happy 4th!
Happy 4th! A question I often get from my clients is how to look chic and comfortable on the 4th or in the summer in general. I have a three year old who will be wearing a red summer dress, teenagers who will be in the pool most of the day and I will be in charge of the food…except the BBQing. I leave that to the men in our family! What to wear? We live in an area we lovingly call Mayberry we have our own parade, our own swim team, houses that could be out of storybooks and friends who are like family. This is a beautiful thing but it also means our day is full of activities and not much downtime. Most of the day will be spent chasing around the three year old, near or in the pool, hanging with friends and making sure our teenagers are not playing with fireworks. This can be exhausting and not to mention, HOT. What does one wear to stay cool and look chic?
My must haves:
1. Sunscreen
2. Hat
3. Festive earrings
4. One red OR one blue piece not both. I don’t count white because, well, white is white.
Turquoise is such a great option as an accent to red. (See earrings below). The Sam Edelman shoes in the first picture, (available Nordstrom and Dillard’s) are one of my favorite sandals this season. Dress them up or down and count on them to be comfortable. An easy summer knit dress is a must-have. It is lighter and easier than shorts for us moms, it is an easy way to look pulled together even when we don’t feel it. Flip flops should not be spongy. Choose a leather flip flop and how about a pair with some accents? (See picture 3) Whatever you do, don’t be boring and enjoy this incredible day! Rain or shine.
