When MODA started, I didn’t know it would become what it is today. It is truly humbling to be able to teach, speak and keynote to audiences across the US about branding, marketing, building presence and so much more.
I will never forget the first time I walked through the doors of my first Fortune 100 client. Awe inspiring. Even now, when I walk through the doors of any client, large or small, I am grateful and humbled to be able to serve.
For those of you out there who are afraid to get started, afraid to put yourself out there on social media, afraid to do your first post or get your website going, afraid to ask for a raise or more responsibility, afraid of what your boss might say – to you I say this…Fear may crush you for a moment, but regret will kill you.
Even today, after more than a decade of crushing it, I have moments where I pause before going on stage or walking into the office of a new CEO I haven’t had the chance to get to know yet. Before I start I take a moment to pause – I remember WHO I AM, WHY I was created, WHY I do what I do and I also remember that my gift to build people and businesses is pretty awesome.
I can back up all advice on experiences, trials, successes and relationships. I remember those things so I don’t miss an opportunity to help an individual or company be its best.
If I am ever doubted or questioned, I wait for my brand to speak for itself, my integrity to lift me and for all of my past clients, colleagues and friends to speak for me. Patience – long game – always wins.
Know WHO you are and WHY you do what you do…and then, work hard. Nothing is easy, but it’s worth it. You were created for a purpose – go do it. If anyone else checks you at the door, just smile and wait…your personal brand will lift you up. (This is why it is so important to have one).
If you are good at what you do, know your stuff, have experience to back it up and are GRATEFUL and HUMBLE for all opportunities; you win, every single time.
