TRAINING BETTER KEEP UP WITH TECHNOLOGY
When it comes to transacting business; the WORLD IS A STAGE. There are a variety of roles in business. There is the gatekeeper, the decision maker, the doer, the pretender – plus many more nefarious or infamous characters. We have a variety of backdrops too. Big offices with even larger desks; see through offices surrounded by glass, power offices and the standard brick and mortar office with open ceilings for the hip and creative types. Companies are spending so much money creating a stage for their brands and products to be presented, while also hiring a cadre of individuals who make up the “players or actors on the global stage.” Then they roll the dice and hope all goes well.
Well, the stage is now global and the audience is the world; however, the “actors and players” have not grown as fast as the markets and the stages. It is true that technology is changing every 12 -18 months, and products can become a reality in weeks or months verses years – yet the training for the “business person” is still eons behind.
I am amazed at the pace of technology, but even more so at the slow pace of training staff and executives on how the technology can hurt their business more than it can help it. Every executive and professional is just a picture away from being misinterpreted into a meaning that is false. The court of public opinion is not on the “Side of Right” as much as it is judgmental and looking for a reason to tear someone down.
That said, PLEASE heed my advice, and understand that “Brand is everything.” You have to train your people to deal with the visual world we now live in and understand how technology and the World Wide Web can be a tool for success or a hole for failure. Train your company employees and the Executive Suite on the need for an understanding of Professional and Personal Brand.”
To put it simply…If you don’t know your Personal Brand and aren’t sure of the Brand of the company you either work for or own then how do you represent it?
