With the world as it is today, all leaders MUST be intentional about growing their Emotional Intelligence (EI).

Leader Advice:
1. Listen to your people. Elected officials – listen to your constituents. EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T AGREE. WHY? Most people simply want to be heard.
2. Expect emotion. Emotions are running high…pandemics, tornadoes, cultural unrest – this adds to emotion.
3. Be empathetic. Empathy is crucial for success.
4. Don’t judge intent when people speak – do you really think you know what someone intended? That is YOUR weakness. Listen to words.
5. Learn to read a room, read emotions and body language – UP your game on Zoom with this as well. Web meetings are never going to end.

Read – up your game. EI 2.0 or Emotional Intelligence are great books. This is a time for leaders to lead, have empathy, and be aware that emotions are running high.
