Contentious moment? Unexpected conflict? What do you do?

STAY CALM.

Life is full of hard moments. Unexpected conflict. How do you succeed? There are moments to fight and moments you need to have more grace than you even knew you had. There are always opportunities to discuss the conflict later, and to talk through the situation. Knowing your personal brand core values give you permission to pause, remember who your are even in an unexpected conflict, and help you to be your best in that situation.

Someone is always watching and you are always either building your personal brand or cracking it. The person who acts out in anger and says they are a leader – is a liar. Lashing out isn’t a core value of a leader. If you have done that, the best way to come back from that is acknowledgement and an immediate apology. Treat people as you want to be treated. And remember, just because someone doesn’t attack back, doesn’t mean you’re in the clear.
