COMMUNICATION – Do you have a strategy? | VIDEO
Tactical tips for communicating your value.
Whether you are meeting a new boss, presenting on stage, accepting an award, networking, talking to your boss about something that has NOTHING to do with the message you want to share – you need to figure out a way to share a message in a story so that when you have these moments happen, you are prepared to share what you NEED to share.
For instance, you know it’s time for a promotion. You don’t feel comfortable walking into the bosses office to blurt out that it’s about time for a promotion and/or raise.
So now what? How do you share your value without coming across as pushy, inappropriate or cheesy?
Well, you always have a goal when communicating. Sometimes your goal is just to bond – a great goal. When it comes to the above, you can be in the company breakroom, run into your boss and engage with them about whatever – THEN, find a way to share something your team has done (Authentically), that includes you, make it funny and authentic…not pushy.
Stories are remembered more than facts (Stats back this up – GOOGLE IT), and it allows people to get to know pieces of you in a way that isn’t overwhelming…it is also very bonding.
This is the same for any company. Sharing value through stories – having a goal when creating marketing pieces that goes beyond what you are marketing today. Build value, build brand and don’t be afraid to share.
Communication, sales, marketing and personal storytelling need a strategy – if you don’t have one, you will miss opportunity after opportunity after opportunity.
